Ullapool Town

Ullapool is a short drive from Dolphin or a15 minute walk away by road. Alternatively, there is scenic route over Ullapool Hill from the top of the road along a beautiful panoramic footpath with views out to sea of the Summer Isles, and of surrounding mountains. Take your camera!

Ullapool provides banks and shops ranging from a supermarket and minimarket, excellent bookshops, a hardware store and a chemist to local craft shops (such as Highland Stoneware, Made in Ullapool, fairtrade Village Green Trading and Artworks), Ullapool's own bakery and a seasonal market.

Live folk music is often on offer in Ullapool in different venues and there are various music festivals throughout the year, such as the guitar festival, Loopalu and a book festival in May. For those interested in Gaelic there is an adult Fèis in May and a junior Fèis in October. There is usually a display of pipes, drums and Highland dancing in the town in Summer by the Ullapool and district Pipe band.

There is an indoor swimming pool and leisure centre, 9 hole 18 tees scenic lochside golf course, and  a museum of Ullapool and regional history and archaeology.

There is a good choice of restaurants and cafes serving local and international cuisine.
